Guests will be greeted on arrival by our wonderful housekeeper, who will prepare a welcome pack with traditional Cornish Cream tea and other local produce to get you started. At Christmas/New year guests will find the farmhouse adorned with Christmas tree and traditional decorations and a hamper with some Christmas goodies.

The Farmhouse

Trethiggey Farmhouse is a listed Georgian property, formerly known as Trethiggey Villa. It was originally owned by Sir Thomas Acland, a famous and fabulously wealthy parlimentarian and is shown on 1839 maps to have been at the head of a 200 acre estate.

Access to the farmhouse is down a private lane that is shared with the farm. The farmhouse is set in an acre of gardens surrounding the property, including a football field, a sandpit and a wooded area with swings. Alongside the farmhouse in front of the gravel parking area is a large carport installed with a table tennis table.

Trethiggey Farmhouse combines both old and traditional elements, such as the dairy, original sandstone and slate floors, with modern comforts, such as the well-equipped kitchen, wireless broadband and a flat screen TV. The farmhouse boasts a 1950s solid fuel Aga, a multi fuel-burner in the scullery kitchen, and open fires in the two main living rooms. It has been luxuriously furnished to accommodate large groups, sleeping up to 15 in the six bedrooms (+ a cot), each of which has been individually and tastefully furnished. One room includes 2 sets of bunk beds to accommodate 4 young children and there are 5 double beds. In one of those rooms there is also a single. There are two bathrooms and three loos in the house.

The two largest living rooms each have a very different feeling. The first has the original sandstone floors with rugs, an enormous sofa, flat screen television, DVD and video player, Playstation consul, extensive video and DVD library, and an open fire. The other living room is traditionally furnished as a drawing room, with an open fire, wide array of board games, card table and includes an extensive library of literary and art books.

A small study at the side of the house is available for your use and has telephones, a fax machine/copier/printer and free wireless broadband.
